Charalampos Giannikopoulos is the founder of DCarbon, a consultancy firm whose goal is to provide top quality analysis and added value services to the building industry and real estate sector through the seamless implementation of innovation and sustainability tools.
Charalampos, after completing graduate and postgraduate studies at NTUA and UCL in the field of architectural engineering and environmental engineering respectively, started his career in the UK as the Sustainability Coordinator of the R&D group at Aedas, a global leading architectural firm, jumping to the business consultancy sector focusing on environmental investments and PPP projects.
In 2011 he was involved in the inaugural implementation of LEED in Greece at large –scale commercial projects, as the first LEED AP to be appointed in Greece by Aktor, the largest construction firm in the region.
Charalampos has extensive experience in participating in multi-disciplinary teams on major international projects including the Masdar City sustainable masterplan in Abu Dhabi, the LEED kick-off implementation at Karela Office Park in Athens, the LEED Strategy Plan for the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (tender), as well as current prominent commercial and educational projects in the region where sustainable consultancy strengthens existing value through better efficiencies, sustainable integration and marketing tools.
In a personal capacity, Charalampos is a LEED Accredited Professional with the “Building Design + Construction” and “Operations + Maintenance” specialties accredited by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), as long as a USGBC Pro Reviewer, an Estidama Pearl Qualified Professional accredited by the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council and a DGNB Consultant accredited by the German Sustainable Building Council.
