David Lorenz currently is co-chair of the Centre for Real Estate at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). He studied Real Estate Economics (1998 – 2001) and Construction Management (2001 – 2002) in Stuttgart (D), Nottingham (UK) and Waterford (IRL).
In 2006, he completed his PhD-thesis on The Application of Sustainable Development Principles to the Theory and Practice of Property Valuation at the Institute of Sustainable Management of Housing and Real Estate, Department of Economics and Management at the KIT (formerly known as Karlsruhe University).
Since May 2012, David holds the RICS/KIT Shared Professorship on Property Valuation and Sustainability. His activities at the Centre for Real Estate at KIT are focused on integrating the principles of sustainable development into real estate research, education and professional practices.
David is also the director and founder of a real estate management, valuation and consulting firm (with 5 employees) located in the southern part of Germany. He has more than 10 years of experience in valuation, asset/facility management and property development.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and a member of various research projects and working groups of RICS. He is also a member of the valuation expert committee of the City of Karlsruhe.
David’s scientific work has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Property Investment & Finance and Building Research & Information. His research has also been published by RICS and won several academic awards.
